On September 15, 1999, the US - Department of Housing and Urban Development - HUD published a final regulation establishing updated standards and procedures for the evaluation and control of lead-based paint hazards in housing receiving federal assistance and federally owned housing being sold. This regulation takes full effect on September 15, 2000 and will be found at 24 CFR Part 35. This new course meets the requirements. To achieve this, the regulation requires that workers performing interim controls and certain other activities either be supervised by a certified lead paint abatement supervisor or successfully complete one of several courses that are named in the regulation or another course approved by HUD

Purpose:
This 1-day Lead Based paint Safe Work Practice is one of several programs approved by HUD to qualify facility maintenance superviors and workers to perform Interim Control work, including paint stabilization. This program is required for all landlords and maintenance supervisors.
